accessWORKS.ca Privacy Policy
Privacy Commitment
accessWORKS.ca collects personally identifying information about you only when you specifically and knowingly provide it to us. We recognize that privacy issues are an important concern, and firmly believe that you should know exactly what personally identifying information we collect and how we're going to use it before you share it with us.
Whether we are communicating with you online or in person, we never release personal information, such as your name, address, or contact information, to any client, vendor, or third party, outside of accessWORKS.ca and its associated companies, without your prior consent.
Your personally identifying information will be used to personalize your experience with accessWORKS.ca or for such other purposes as are described at any point where the website collects this information from you.
accessWORKS.ca may make aggregate information about our clients (e.g. overall statistics) available to third parties for promoting the effectiveness of accessWORKS.ca for employers, disability service providers, and persons with disabilities. Information that personally identifies you will be kept strictly confidential.
Personally identifying information that you choose to provide to another party or website will be subject to their privacy policy. For example, if you provide personally identifying information to a website linked to accessWORKS.ca in the Consortium section, information you provide to that website is subject to their privacy policy rather than ours.
Personally Identifying Information
"Personally identifying information" is information that can be explicitly used to identify and/or contact you as an individual. This includes information like your name and e-mail address. Information that, by itself, cannot be explicitly linked with your "real" identity is not considered personally identifying.
Use of Cookies
Cookies are a feature of your web browser that allows websites to transfer bits of information to your computer for record-keeping purposes. You may be able to set your web browser to notify you when you receive a cookie or to not accept cookies at all. A cookie stored on your computer can be used to "remember" things that will improve the efficiency of your online experience.
A cookie is not a piece of code and cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.
accessWORKS.ca uses cookies on its websites to help us publish content relevant to our customer's needs and wants, allowing us to serve our customers better.
accessWORKS.ca has two primary uses for its cookies. First, we use them to specify unique preferences. Secondly, we use cookies to track usage patterns. This helps us better understand and improve areas of accessWORKS.ca service that our users find valuable. While both of these activities depend on the use of a "cookie", visitors to accessWORKS.ca always have the option of disabling cookies via their browser preferences.
Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, note that some parts of accessWORKS.ca service may not function properly if you refuse cookies.

When you engage in activities on accessWORKS.ca like registering for information, or requesting information, we may ask you to provide us with information. Information we ask you to provide when making a request will only be the information necessary to process your request.
Additional information we may ask you to provide when choosing to engage in other activities on our website may include name, mailing address, telephone number, facsimile numbers, email address and other demographic information that will enable us to better understand the requirements of our clients and to continue to provide high quality service. This information request will be optional and required only to engage in certain activities.
Links to Other Sites
Users should be aware that when you are on accessWORKS.ca, you could be directed to other sites that are beyond our control. There are links to other sites from accessWORKS.ca pages that take you outside our service. For example, if you "click" on a link in our Consortium or Resources section, the "click" takes you off accessWORKS.ca. These other sites may send their own cookies to users, collect data or solicit personal information. Always be aware of where you end up!
The accessWORKS.ca policy does not extend to anything that is inherent in the operation of the Internet, and therefore beyond accessWORKS.ca's control, and is not to be applied in any manner contrary to applicable law or governmental regulation.
